I honestly haven't read beyond the first paragraph of this article, and don't intend to. The very first sentence of that paragraph states:

[sarcasam] Just thought everyone still playing Guild Wars would like to know that asking for game balance is stupid, because good competitve PvP clearly revolves around being lucky enough to have the right build to beat your opponent.[/sarcasam]

Let me rephrase the question: how much actually HAS a "clue"?
I think the writer of the State of the Game intented to give some guidelines on equipment and what to take, since a lot of players (both new and old) are very narrowed in their views what to use and what not...
High numbers ftw
A monk with a shield? noob!
Vampiric is extra damage and it heals me!
Ebon...ebon what?!?
+30/-2 or +15/-1... extra energy!!! WOOOOT!
So again.. how many players actually has a clue?

I third that.
PS: Zui you overreact. GW PvP atm is good. No it's not heavenly but it's good. I just miss more frequent skill balancing which would make those 200 skills from totally useless to underpowered or playable.

Yawn, uh huh. I suppose exposing energy to mesmers is smart. +30 energy, thats nice, yep those emergency infuses or prots sure does make the difference between winning and losing... Oh and lets not mention the fact that when you die with a sheild, -5 energy sword and get rezzed, you actually have MORE base energy.
There are 4 weapon slots, learn to use them all and then comment on it latter.

Until you learn to properly weapon swap and actually get a clue as to why you would have a - energy set, a sword and shield set, a fast recharge set, and an emergency oh shit set, please refrain from posting on pvp matters. thank you

Auch... I think we have an issue of misunderstanding here. The OP reacts on this week State of the Game article. Indeed the quote is a strange passage, but I am just pointing out the intention of the writer is in essence good. He tries to give basic guidelines on the use of gear...
Still my comments where pointing towards the obvious limitations of it. I see the public here responding to my obvious sarcasm have clue enough. I was just interested in to know how many people are still caught dying on +energy sets... how many have no clue why and when ebon can be useful or to swap vampiric...
Obvious i need to refrain from posting on any matter untill my points are properly understand...
And sir/mam... i prefer a 1000 times more a post of somebody here who has no clue what is going on, for that means another soul can be implemented in the wonderful world of PvP on a proper level...

I spat all over my keyboard when I read this...
"For the quicker attacks of daggers, swords, and axes, vampiric tends to give better DPS. The slower attack speeds of hammers and scythe make it more difficult for vampiric weapons of these types to return the loss from Health degeneration."
Let's see...
+3 Life Steal at an attack rate of 1.33 seconds = 2.26 life steal/second.
+5 Life Steal at an attack rate of 1.75 seconds = 2.86 life steal/second.
Where does this guy get his information? His "gut"?
